adulthood is a trap  
we know it will all end soon  
our lives dashing by at great speeds  
we try to tame it  
we try to slow it down  
yet, it still dashes  
our pains ebb  
our joy flows  
our anxiety speeds it  
our peace slows it  
it’s a race we don’t choose  
yet, win or lose,  
**it runs us**  
yet, win or lose,
